Lede New Orleans and the Spring 2021 reporting fellows — like Nikka Troy and Montero Morton above — will be documenting stories about local K-12 education. The goal? To better understand what the return to the classroom looks (and feels) like in New Orleans after a virtual year amid a pandemic.

Are you a student, parent or caretaker? An educator, social worker or youth programs worker? Take our survey to share your experience with our reporting fellows.

Here are a few questions our reporting fellows are looking into:

  • What is the return to school like for youth and educators who live with anxiety?
  • When will a vaccine be available for children?
  • Are there high school students who have opted to get the vaccine?
  • What are the mental health implications for students who spent the past year learning online?
  • How are schools and educators handling vaccine skepticism?
